24inch iMac screen type?

Is the 24inch iMac a LED screen?
The reason I ask is that me and my girlfriend have a 24inch and the screen is hugely brighter than my current 2.4 mackbook pro. '
There is a huge difference and I am wondering if that is the selling point, it being an LED.

No... just a desktop display with a bigger CFL than fits in a laptop.

It's also a different technology - S-IPS vs. the TN display in teh MacBook Pro.
