i have the dual dual-core xeon 2.66 w/ 3gb ram, running an ati x1900 512 mb video card. wondering if i can swop one of the two superdrives for this blu-ray rom drive.

Yes... but keep in mind there's no legal software for OS X to play BluRay movies yet.
