Hi all, I've just had some RAM die on me so I'm going to install some new Kingston RAM in my Mac and wanted to get some feedback on a few things prior to buying it.

Firstly can someone explain to me the differences between the various CL numbers and also would it make a significant difference to go for HyperX over Kingston value RAM. I'm vaguely aware of how it works with CL's, clock cycles and all, but in reality does it really make that much difference? Does a quicker bus speed matter and on my machine am i limited in anyway?

Its a G5 Powermac Dual 2Ghz DDR2 model with 8 slots, 16 gig max.

There's a couple of 256 dimms still in the machine that i'll probably leave in for now, unless they're going to slow the machine down at all. I think they're 533 CL4's. I'm not sure if they'd be beneficial or not.

Cheers in advance for the info.

The latencies don't matter because the G5 chipsets don't take advantage of the more aggressive ones even if your memory supports it. There's no harm in leaving the 256MB modules in.
