So I have this iMac G5 17" thats having crazy problems. First the screen would go crazy when you turn it on. It would almost look like one of those psychedelic screen savers where the screen gradually changes color and there are no shapes on screen, just colors floating around. The PRAM would reset, but holding down T or Option while booting did nothing. You'd still get this crazy colors show. Then after playing with it for a while longer, suddenly I would get a picture on the screen. I was even able to boot it. But there would be TONS of artifacts all over the screen. And the screen would randomly tweak out for a few seconds. I was able to get it to do this repeatedly, but not for long, it would lock up solid after a few minutes, every time.
I found the apple imac g5 repair program, but this computer is a refurb so it's serial doesn't match. I assume this is simply a defective logic board? Is there a chance apple will cover it? If not, where can you get new logic boards?
