Does anyone think it will be possible to change the optical drive to a Blueray model in the current iMacs in the near future.
I want to buy an iMac now but I know Blueray is right around the corner.
And, no, I won't be purchasing before the update that is coming soon.

Possible? Sure. I'd even go so far as it say it's likely the iMac will be the first Mac to sport BluRay (no HDCP issues with a built-in monitor). But Apple has been really slow to adopt HD optical disks, so who knows when it will be.

Sure, you can always ADD a BR drive, it USING it to watch movies is a completely different matter. Due to all the DRM and what not, it won't work with the current hardware and software.
You should be able to use it as a data drive though.
