I've lost the Apple icon — upper left corner of menu bar/desktop. How do I get it back?

Rebooting doesn't help?

Or, if you don't want to reboot: force quit the SystemUIServer process.

SystemUIServer doesn't draw the Apple menu though (unless something changed in Leopard).

Rebooting doesn't restore the Apple menu. My system is Tiger. Further suggestions?

Is it gone completely so that no menu is shown if you click on the region, or is it just hidden? Do you have any interface mods installed?

It seems to be gone completely; however, the entire desktop has shifted to the left, suggesting the possibility that it is now hidden to the left of the screen.

No interface mods that I know of.

Thanks

Sounds like something goobered your display settings. You could try going into Display Preferences and selecting a lower (probably MUCH lower) resolution and see what shows up. Also, you didn't mention which computer you have and if it's an external display or a built in one. Maybe you somehow chose a widescreen resolution and your display isn't widescreen?

You haven't fiddled with the left / right alignment on your monitor, have you?

Or did you accidentally hit the control+zoom thing? I've done that before.
