I have an older Palm Pilot (M125) that runs fine on our iMac G3 machine. I'm trying to install and configure a similar Palm setup on our eMac G4 Machine that has OS 10.3.9. When I insert the Palm software into the CD Drive of our eMac, the system recognizes it and puts the Disk Icon up on the Desktop. When I double click on it, the window comes up that contains the Installer file. When I launch the Installer program, the OS 9 window comes up and I see all the OS 9 icons load across the bottom of the OS 9 Window. The title of the window is:

Classic Starting up using "System Folder" on "MacIntosh HD".

However, Classic never launches. The blue "progress bar" in the window never completely reaches the end of the bar. It goes really fast at first when the icons come up at the bottom of the window, but then the window goes blank and the blue "progress bar" remains about an 1/8th of an inch away from the "finish line". I can let it set all night, come back the next morning, and it's still in that same state. When I go to cancel the process by hitting the Stop button, the operating system gives me a message saying "Are you sure you want to stop? It's better to let Classic finish starting, then stop Classic using the Classic pane of System Preferences." Something must be incorrectly set on my circa 2004 eMac that won't allow the Classic System to start. Does anyone have any input?

Thanks very much!!

Download the latest Palm Desktop software from versiontracker.com, which will be OS X software. Palm Desktop is working fine on my Leopard install, so you shouldn't have any problems with the newer software. You'd drag-n-drop your data file on top of the Palm software to start it up the first time.

Excellent!!! Thanks very much. I couldn't find the latest version @ versiontracker, but I went to Palm's website and found the latest version. Just took a minute to check to see if I could print out the weekly schedule.....Works fine!! Thanks again very much!!!

glad it worked for you!

I don't use my old Handspring at all, but I still use the database, because it's so well designed.
