I want to put an intel T7800 (2.6ghz core 2 duo mobile) in my old 1.66ghz core duo mini.

From what i've researched so far seems like it should be fine.

Nice thread title. Replacing a CPU won't necessarily make the machine faster. Are you going to reclock it as well?

As much as I appreciate it, it still doesn't get across what I'm asking.

I know a CPU switch is possible, I'm just not sure if the T7800 is mini friendly.

Yes, you can replace the CPU in all non-laptop Intel Macs.

No, you can't put T7800 in a Mac mini; it won't physically fit and the chipset doesn't support it anyway. The best you can do is T7600.

Thanks, just the kind of answer I was looking for.

I was going to say that a "Merom" chip will work.

But I won't.

Sure it does. "Is it possible to replace my Mac Mini CPU with another one?" Much better than your original title of "Possible?" People appreciate an explanatory title before they click on a thread.
