I recently bought Leopard and tried to install it onto my mini mac which is currently running Tiger 10.4. I can only get as far as the restart button then the the little white circle whirls away for hours on end. I've tried restarting holding down the C key. Same result. It's all very frustrating. Anyone got any ideas?

Diagnosis step 1. Take the install disc that came with your mini and put it in the drive, select it as the startup disk, and then restart. Will it boot off of that?

Or, just restart while holding the C key (which is better because you won't have to reselect your drive after the installation).

Hi
Many thanks for that. If I try restarting off the original Tiger disc it just tries to reinstall Tiger. I've tried using the Leopard disc as a start up disc but the same problem occurs. The wheel under the Apple logo whirls away, then I get a blue screen which quickly turns grey and then the multicoloured spinner appears in the top left hand corner and spins and spins and spins and spins. Guess I'm destined not to install Leopard in my mini mac!

Something is fishy with your Leopard retail disk. If you can, return it and exchange it for a new one. When booted in Tiger, does the Leopard disk mount OK on your desktop?
