Help, Super drive issues!

	So I installed a Hitachi Superdrive into my 8-Core Mac Pro and it doesnt seem to be functioning 100%. The factory Pioneer 112D works just fine, and the Hitachi functions perfectly fine with CD's only. If I put any kind of DVD in it to play or burn to, it won't recognize it all; but like i said, any kind of cd works perfectly. I checked the system profiler and it recognizes the drive and supports it and even recognizes that it reads and writes DVD's so I am clueless! Any help is greatly appreciated!!
