Can anyone tell me how to save a movie from my Cable DVR and copy and burn it on my 24" MAC. There is a firewire connection on the back of the DVR box. There is also a hole for connecting another computer to or from a router. There is a 1394 plug also on the DVR. If you know, please e-mail me at bikerdj111@mchsi.com.

Please send me your phone number and I will call you. (USA only).

Thanks

Unless the movie is on one of your local channels, most likely it will be encrypted, thus you wont be able to capture it via firewire.

About the only way to capture is via analog, in which case, you'd need a video capture card. Affordable video capture cards are standard def (s-video or composite connections), in which case you'd only be able to capture in standard def (480i).

To do this, get something like one of the elgato eyeTV products.
