I know the early Mini's had issues natively recognizing some HDTV displays, and that there are apps that you can download to optimize viewing area. HOWEVER, I am trying to reinstall Leopard on my machine and when booting from the DVD, those patches have no effect. Its quite a (if I had some) hair raising experience to try and reinstall the software this way.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to handle it? If I HAVE to i can always pic up a cheap monitor to set the mini up and use as a spare.

Some general tips on set up would be great to, to take advantage of the 1080p.

Thanks!

How are you connecting to the TV: VGA, DVI? When you are talking about "optimizing the viewing area", what do you mean and what patches are you referring to or have tried applying? More info is needed here, I believe.

I am connecting via DVI > HDMI, and SwitchResX is one of the apps that will let you optimize for the specific screen you have.

1920x1080 isn't a native resolution? SwtichResX is usually only helpful for connecting to screens with odd resolutions (like some POS screens, car LCDs, etc.)

Also, I don't think the Mac mini can even play 1080p video. 720p is about as good as you're going to get without dropped frames. At least, that's what I read on Google.
