maybe a dumb question, but I am using an 7350/180 PowerPc which is designed to sit horizontally. I need to lay it on it's side to stand upright to fit into the work station.

I took off the cover and the right hand side of the chassis looks pretty solid and doesn't have any air vents.

Would it hurt anything to rotate it 90 degrees?

I am not sure how that would affect the hard drives operation.

I don't see why it would be a problem. The iMac's hard drive is oriented vertically and I haven't heard of any problems with it.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if the HD was designed with bearings that would support the spinning disk in either plane.

Out of curiosity, what tasks do you accomplish with the 7300?

Does your Mac have a tray CD drive? (opens a tray for loading) Those must stay horizontal. Slot loading can work either way.

Actually that's incorrect, it can be vertical. There are little clips built into the CD-ROM tray that flip out, made to keep the CD level while in the drive. Apple has been shipping CD-ROM drives that have these clips in the drive trays for many, many years.

Though I think the 7300 may be old enough not to have the clips on the CD-ROM tray.
