In the sidebar of the Finder and in my other Macs Sharing sections of the sidebar my new 3.06GHz iMac shows up as the old white model and not the correct Aluminium model.

Is anybody else seeing this?

Does it need fixed or will it be a 10.5.3 issue?
David.

As clear as day. It is white machine... My MacBook Air And MacMini also think the same.

I know a silver icon exists since I went to see the iMacs in the Apple Store and other shops today and they were fine.

Mine isn't.

Just for info: Do you think it may be caused due to the fact this machine is a restore of my MacBook Air Time Capsule backup?

I think he's saying "seriously" as in: are you serious that this is such a big deal?

If you must have it, do an archive & install.

Sorry to break it to you, but this won't be fixed until 10.7.23.

Then, of course, the Aluminum model is hopelessly aged, as Apple has already advanced to the Iridium models.

Seriously.

FWIW, my iMac G5 is correctly depicted as a white model. My old blueberry iMac G3 is depicited as an aluminium iMac, which it most certainly is not. It was depicted as an old iMac G4 at some point as well.

...and my late 2007 aluminum iMac shows as aluminum in Finder. I had to go into the prefs for Finder to make it show up to see what it thought the machine was.

Truly this is a very minor thing. I hope the system icon nudge will clear it up—and that's the worst issue you have with your computer!

FWIW, my hard drive doesn't look like the one in the sidebar either!
