Hello everyone. I just found your forum and wanted to ask for some assistance on a question.

I have a NAS storage drive, made by LaCie. I have all my music, movies and photos on it. I also use an Apple TV and stream all the content on that NAS drive to my Apple TV.

Ocassionally, the Apple TV can not recognize the format of my video files (even though I've played Cars for my kids a billion times already. I think I've figured out the issue. It seems that after I reboot my Mini, it doesn't connect with the NAS drive automatically and that's what is causing the Apple TV to not see the files.

My drive has an IP address of 192.168.x.xxx, and I need to know if there is a way to tell OS X to automatically mount that drive each time I reboot the computer. I'm brand new to Macs and to the Apple TV. I've only had them about 3 months, so I'm still learning a lot of stuff about them.

Thanks,
John

Make an alias of the drive when you've manually mounted it and add it as a login item in the Accounts preferences. That way it will always mount at boot.

Thank you for the feedback. Can you tell me how to make an alias of the drive? I'm unsure what to do there. Sorry for the simple question. I've been a PC user forever and don't know my way around the Mac yet.

Right-click the mounted drive and select "Make Alias" (equivalent to PC shortcuts).

Thanks Steve for the info.

I don't see the mounted drive. There is no icon on the desktop and when I double click on "Macintosh HD," I see, in the left menu, devices, shared and places. My drive shows up in "shared" and is listed as the IP address 192.168.x.xxx. When I right click on that, all it gives me as options is open and get info.

Am i doing something wrong here? Or should I be looking somewhere else?

Thanks,
John

After you open it, it should mount and appear on the desktop.
