I am trying to fix my co-workers eMac. The issue is I get a kernal panic just after you hit Accept when booting off the OS 10.4 DVD. Could it be the ram going bad?

Could be nearly anything, but RAM is a good place to start.

I concur... I'd start with RAM. Sometimes, Tiger just doesn't like certain RAM during installation, but works fine after.

If you can, cut and paste the Kernel Panic log and we can see if anything makes any sense.

Hmm, that reminds me. When I put Tiger on my PowerBook, I had to take out third party RAM for the installation... it wouldn't install with it in. After it was installed, I put it back in and it worked no problem.

I reset the PMU and now everything seems to be fine.... weird... What would cause this problem?
