Hi,

I want to upgrade memory on my mac pro 2008 from the default 2Gb to about 8-10 Gb. Which brand is the better choice - iRam or OWC ?

I bought 4gb OWC RAM for 140 bucks or so and it works great!

Mushkin looks expensive and they have only 4GB modules.
I plan to get 8 GB but with 2Gb modules with my default 2GB ( 1x 2 ) that comes with the system to get a total of 10GB.

I've had good luck with OWC RAM for Mac Pros on multiple machines. Good stuff and fast shipping. Should cost around 300-400

iTry and stay away from anything with an 'i' in front of it that isn't made by apple , as for newegg; they always deliver before i expect it and have never let me down. I have ordered ram from them, crucial, owc as well as fry's or outpost.com as some of you know them if you don't have a fry's in your town and all have been fine although newegg and owc seem to love to surprise you with earlier than expected shipping which is always a bonus.

I know of 3 different Mac Pro (2008 models) running the Buffalo memory with no issues. Ended up ordering it via OWC, as oddly Buffalo themselves had a rather large lead time when I went to buy mine.
