I have a 24" AL iMac, I want to change the internal drive, having worked on many many computers before (from overclock-soldering G4 towers to opening mini's for upgrades) I have no doubt of getting the job done, my problem is the glass and the possibility of dust, anyone do this? how hard was it to keep dust out? I have 3 cats and there is cat hair pretty much everywhere. Plus I am pretty anal about my screens.

Anyone have any tips or should I just stay away?

Do the installation at a friends animal / dust free house ?

Shower & freshly washed clothes before installation ?

It's very difficult to keep everything clean; even with the official apple tools. Did you get a quote from a certified repair shop? It shouldn't cost you too much to have them do it, and if there is any dust/dirt/hairs it will be their job to get it clean.

I didn't know there were official apple tools I have some large suction cups and figure that would do it. My local shop is the worst place in the world, but I have a few mos left on warranty so ill wait till then I guess and find a clean room.
