24" white iMac monitor dims after two minutes slightly. Why?

If I read an internet site, and do not move the cursor, etc., the screen dims slightly after two minutes approximately.
I checked Energy saving settings, there's no such behavior.
As I just just got this new screen, and warranty just ended, I need to address any issues now.
So, did you ever notice a slight dimming after 2 minutes of inactivity, and a brightening up after you moved the cursor?
Thanks!

"Automatically reduce the brightness of the display before display sleep" in Energy Saver options.

Thanks, mduell. I've set it to 15 minutes, and it dims after 2 minutes.
But I checked it out, and this is a normal procedure. And the moment you do something it brightens up, so there's no danger to misadjust an image.
(if you depend on such a thing as perfectly controlled brightness levels and color output, one is always on the tip of one's toes regarding such things).
PS: the new screen is superior to the old one. It's a new revision, and this is the reason it dims down much more than the original screen. To under 120cd2, which makes it perfect for editing.
Must say, I just got to love my white 24" iMac even a bit more.

Uncheck the box and it will turn off at 15 minutes without dimming.

The checkbox mduell is talking about is on the last tab, and it's only on or off. The one you're talking about is the slider on the first tab, which determines when the screen goes completely black.

You can also do this via the Terminal: sudo pmset -a halfdim 0
