Sounds like the hard drive is faulty.

Make sure you have a full backup.

Yep, that should do it.

You'll need an ATA/IDE hard disk NOT SATA.

Well i tried een old harddisk but no succes. Even this harddisk was not a good one (i don't have a other one).

I have a harddisk with bad sectors. Is it possible that de eMac stucks on the bad sectors as soon that part of the harddisk is accessed?

That's exactly what happens. The computer stalls, because the harddrive tries to access the blocks over and over again. Until it gives up several seconds later. You need a new harddrive.
I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it.

Alright that my last choice to buy i new harddrisk.

In windows there is some windows tool you can say:
dont access this part of the harddisk again because its there are bad sectors/clusters. And the computer dont use those sectors or clusters anymore. Is there something you can do with the mac's two?

If you have a lot of bad sectors, the drive is dying. Drives only have a limited amount of spare sectors that they can use to replace faulty ones, you're probably well past that limit.

If that drive happens to be a Seagate one and it's under 5 years old, send it back for a replacement.

Alright i have here 5 eMacs.

And all mac's here are having the same problemen. That the screen freezes. And sometimes weird lines (wrong noise) on the screen when freezes.

Well that means that al mac's harddrives needs to be replaced with new harddrives.

You never mentioned the weird lines before This would seem to equate to the infamous eMac logic board issue.

http://www.apple.com/support/exchange_repair/emac.html

I can't seem to find an exact link right now.

It's not a program you download, it's a program/service where you can get them repaired for free if they're exhibiting the problems described and the serial numbers fall within the specified range.

If there were weird lines, a software update won't help with it (for long.) Look into the eMac Logic Board repair program.
