Everything was fine when i powered it off last night. I tried to turn it on this morning and im not getting any sound of any kind, nor any sounds. i checked the outlet and it is working. i tried another outlet and the machine still will not turn on. Is there anything on the logic board that can be reset when the back cover is off. i called i apple store and they walked me through unplugging it, waiting for 2 mins and then trying again but that was as far as they would go. does this sound like a logic board. ive also tried another power plug

any help on this would be greatly appreciated

Jeff

Listen very carefully as you plug the iMac in (on the back of the mac, not at the wall plug), if you can here a clicking noise, that's the power unit earthing. If you can't hear a click then the power supply has gone. It's not hard to replace on a G5 iMac.

i dont think im hearing anything more than a slight pop which sounds more like an electrical connection being hooked up. i get the same sound at the wall when i plug it in. when plugged in though, if the power supply is closest to you... there are 4 leds in the top middle of the logic board. the one to the far left is green, the others are off. not sure if that means anything but it means at least part of the board is getting some sort of power. are all these leds supposed to be on or do they come on when the machine is running

thank you for your reply

Jeff
