So, I decided to give my Mac Pro an early Xmas present! I got two WD 1TB Caviar GP Internal HDD's. When I got my Mac Pro, I got with the standard 250GB HDD - I then cannibalized my PC for all the HDD's (a combo of 200 and 250GBs) - I installed & formatted them - no problems at all - I ran super-quiet I could hear the HDD spinning!

I took the old HDD's out and installed one new 1TB HDD - I cloned my OS from the old HDD to the new 1TB HDD - during the process I noticed that the fans were running way fast! I thought I might have been the process. Ever since the fans are running constantly at a very high rate - I downloaded the "fans" widget and ir indicates that I have one fan running at 2,900RPM, another running at close to 1000RPM and the others at 500RPMs (normal I guess!)

I've combed the Net looking for solutions - I've tried unplugging everything waiting 10 minutes; I've tried resetting the PRAM; I've tried resetting the SMC; I even swapped the original HDD's back - all to no avail! I really miss the quiet system I had before! - out of desperation I called Apple tech support! (I'll be getting a call tomorrow - hopefully!)

Does anyone know of ANY solution at all that I could try? PLEASE HELP

Can you work out which fan it is by upping the spin rate of them with the SMC app? You might find your culprit more quickly that way.

I worked out that it was my power supply fan that was making the racket that way.
