Please look at the pic linked below. That is my part of my 20" iMac (1st aluminum model) purchased in Jan 2008. This happens every now and then. Sometimes when it wakes up from sleep and sometimes when it has just finished booting. I can remove it by just opening finder and dragging the finder window to "erase" it.

Anyone else had this problem? What should I do? It's under warranty but I don't know what the Apple Store can do since I can't replicate it on demand?

Well I'd take it in and take pictures with you. How often does it happen?

It just happened again when I shut it down. It appeared just before shut down. I'm not sure how often it happens.....at least once a week.

Buy and register AppleCare, then wait for it to fail completely.

I already have AppleCare.....but it's been happening more these last days so I will make a trip to the Apple Store this week. I think I can replicate it now by Log Off.......it shows up right before the screen switches to the logon screen.
