Pull out any extra RAM (not factory installed) & any extra PCI cards, & see what happens. It's probably the power supply, though.

You are thinking of the iMac G5 Repair Extension Program for Power Supply Issues. It is closed as of December 15, 2008. It was for covering defective capacitors which were killing 20 inch iMac G5s. To my knowledge, that problem never affected PowerMac G5 power supplies.

toldja. thanks ifixit! i wasn't sure if that was public info or not.

edit: i knew about the REP because my dual 2.5 has a dead power supply but it's serial doesn't fall in the right range to be covered. but jenni, my g5 with a dead power supply does exactly that, the light on the front flickers and nothing else. if you post up which model you have i can direct you to the part you probably need.

edit again: it wasn't the power supply. after being dead for 4 months, i've brought it back to life by wiggling the RAM a little bit. glad i didn't spend $200 on a PSU...

Good call, iFixit. Turns out I actually had that page saved in my Support folder, as of 3 years ago. I'd forgotten about it.
