I just picked up a used Intel 2.16ghz 20" iMac for $100 that won't power on. The previous owner said it was damaged by a power surge. I want to fix this thing and get it up and running. I hope the logic board isn't damaged. My first guess is replacing the power supply board but I wanted to see if anybody out there has any tips, tricks, or advice for me (other than, "Take it to the Apple Store and let them fix it").

Thanks!

Update:

I dissassembled the iMac. Disconnected the screen and the iMac powered up. I'm getting power to my iPod from the Firewire ports but I'm not sure the USB ports are working. I reconnected the screen but there's no video when I power the machine on. The Superdrive does not accept discs either.

Firewire is 12V. USB is 5V. I think the Superdrive might run on 5V.
You may just need a PS, but I can't imaging the display running on 5V only.

Thanks for the tip, Eriamjh. I've got a new power supply board on the way. I'll switch it out and see what happens.
