It will be a lot easier to convince you if you wait just those few days until new systems are released.
And if what you've read about Mac OS X isn't enough to convince you - get your ass to a *good* Apple retailer and have somebody competent show you around the system and the iLife apps.
If you use iTunes, you already know how to use iPhoto (the digital photo management app). From there, it's a fairly small step to iMovie (video editing that's fun and enticing even for completely inexperienced video newbies).
From there: forget Microsoft Office (if you can): You already know pretty much how to use the iWork apps.
You'll appreciate a system that's built around the way YOU work and explore (as a human), rather than a system that expects you to be an engineer and confronts you with belittling wizards and ****wad paperclip-assistants to help you through the complex mess, rather than trying to make it accessible and explorable in the first place.
Let the design of the machine sink in a bit.
Have somebody show you the Front Row remote control that comes with every machine.
The iSight cam.
The spectacular screen.
You know you'll want one...
