A friend of mine has a brand new 24in iMac 2.6GHz

He had it upgraded to 4GB of RAM prior to delivery but it's not performing as well as it should. He's experiencing a .ot of spinning beachballs and on one occasion it even displayed a dialogue box saying that more RAM was required to perform that operation, which I've never heard of in OSX before, whic h makes me think it may be more than the standard bad RAM.

The Mac displays the full4GB as being installed so it knows its got it.

First port of call is obviously the RAM itself as being faulty but AHD says no.

Any other ideas before we swap out the ram to test (which would mean buying more RAM just to test it out.

thanks

After a beachball session, what are the page in/page out/swap used values in Activity Monitor?

Are any processes using a lot of RAM (>1GB)?
