Just trying to compare Macs for what will hopefully mean a new work Mac on my desk.
The other designer here has not long had a Mac Pro Quad 2.8 with 4GB RAM with a 24" (not Apple) screen. How would a new 2.66 or 2.93 24" iMac with 4GB compare with that machine? It would be used for magazine design and web design in Quark and Adobe CS4.

Probably not a whole lot of difference, really. Neither of those apps is really "killer" when it comes to loading a system down.

I'll second that statement.
Keep in mind though that the RAM ceiling for the new iMac is 8GB. Should you in the future need more, you'll want either the previous MP or the new octo MP (but not the new quad MP!).
