I have a 17in iMac G5 2GHz and I've been having a huge problem with it. i can only start in safe mode but once the screen gets past the gray screen with the apple logo, it gets all scrambled. What could this be? I hooked it up, via firwire, to my laptop and installed a fresh copy of Leopard but it hasn't changed anything. I bought a new iMac not to long ago and really don't need this one but I'd still like to try and fix it. If I take it in to the apple store do you think they'll be able to solve the problem without it being too expensive? Thanks

That's going to be your logic board. Open it up and look for bulging/bursting capacitors.

You may find a company that will repair the logic board capacitors for a semi-reasonable rate. Their website might scare you, but these are good honest folk: http://www.microreplay.com/index.php...cPath=61_66_78
