I have a PowerMac G5 Quad 2,5 GHZ with an airport extreme 802.11g card.
In order tot use 802.11n I would like to install an Edimax EW-7728ln wireless 802.11n PCI Card.
Has anyone done this before in a Quad, and does it require dismantling the present 802.11g card?

Is there a better way to go to 802.11n?

802.11n ideally make use of three or four antennas, your G5 only has two IIRC. Getting the g card out and installing a new one is easy, but due to the antenna issue, my guess is an 802.11n USB dongle will give you better performance than installing a new card.

Is getting the g-card out of a QUAD g5 really that easy?
Anyone experienced this?

I have been looking around (Internet) for an 802.11n USB dongle, but it seems that many of them are not Mac compatible. Any suggestion?

It's just a little card (smaller than a CC) attached to two antenna cables. Once you get to the card it's easy to remove.
