Hey guys.

My iMac was on screensaver mode when i started to screen-share from my macbook. And after that my iMac got stuck and I couldnt even put the screensaver out when I moved my mouse.

So what I did was just press and hold the power button of the iMac to shutdown. Is that considerably safe. If not, what's the best way to restart an iMac when its stuck.

What about this one?

Control-Option-Command-Eject ---> Quit all applications (after giving you a chance to save changes to open documents), then shut down the computer.

It isn't 100% safe and could potentially lead to some data corruption (especially in any unsaved files), but I'm afraid it is all that you can do if the window server has crashed or become unresponsive. If you know how to ssh in from another computer and are able to, you might be able to quit some processes more sanely before forcing a restart.
