hey guys recently bought a g4 powermac 733mhz I added ram too it but no matter what i do it just beeps one time. I know that this means it is not regonizing the ram but I cant get it to not be or do anything else. The fans spin when i turn it on and the motherboard is getting power there is a red light, however I am not getting a display? I have check the battery with a volt meter it was good and have tried resetting the pmu no luck. At this point I think i am just going to replace the logic board.

Could a power supply kill a logic board?
How do logic boards die?
Is it hard to replace the logic board?
Why is the plastic on the processor?

Thanks in Advance

Sounds like the logic board. (did you try different RAM?)

Can a power supply kill a logic board? Easily.
How do they die? Million of ways...
Hard to replace? nope, not on that model... just a few screws...
Plastic? What plastic are you talking about? The heatsink?

Take a look at your motherboard. The little "silos" that are stuck on it every now and then are called capacitors. A common defect on some model years is that these capacitors overheat and boil, eventually cracking the containment and the electrolyte leaking out. That can cause this effect. Check your capacitors to see if any of them are leaking. If so, your motherboard needs replacing or possibly repair if you know anyone skilled with a soldering iron.
The low-end Mac Pro is the most overpriced Mac since the IIvx
