My 5 year old PowerMac Dual G5 has a problem since yesterday. It crashed while it was in the sleep-mode. After restart, every time I put the Mac to sleep it crashed. The fans made a lot of noise. And About this Mac>More info tells me now that there is only one processor. Techtool Pro and Apple Hardeware Test confirm this. They don't find any problems but one processor is lost and I can't put my Mac to sleep anymore.
Can anyone give me some advice?
Resetting PRAM and PMU or OF didn't solve the problem. Is it still worth to replace the defective processor?

TIA

It's probably only worth it to replace the defective processor if you can pick up another one off eBay cheap.
Might also be worth re-seating the processor, but I have no idea how to do this I'm afraid.

Buying a replacement processor would probably cost the same as buying a new Mac mini that's faster.

Is a Mac Mini faster for video encoding?

I still use the Mac with one defective processor. Does it consumes less electricity (power) now?
I have noticed the defective processor doesn't come hot.
