Hi There

I currently have a 2009 Mac Pro
and I am planning on adding some more ram (currently having stock 3x1gb)

either adding 4gb or 6gb

I have looked at various websites and saw the performances
but still i'm not sure which configuration would be the fastest

I will be buying from:
Mac Pro Memory - Apple Mac Pro Xeon 8-Core and Quad Core Memory Upgrades DDR2 Fully Buffered 240 Pin DIMM 800MHz PC6400 / 667MHz PC5300 at OtherWorldComputing.com

My options are:
1x4gb
3x2gb
4x2gb

any recommendations??

and in what order do i place them??

Thanks

Avoid OWC, get 4x2GB from Crucial.

Do you have the quad or the 8-core?

Fo particular reason other than Crucial fanboyism...go with the best price from ANY reputable vendor or distributor. I have 6GB of memory from OWC in my MacPro with no problems, no overheating, etc for the last three years.

Use Crucial to figure out the specs your machine can take.

Then buy from anywhere that has the best price - I get all my stuff through Newegg, although you can find good prices on ZipZoomFly and Amazon as well.
