Dear All

I am trying to install mac OSX10.3 on a iMac G3 350mhz with 64mb ram

It won't boot from the OSX cd and just starts up in OS9.2

It reads the disc ok in OS9 but wont boot from it

any ideas would could be causing this?

Sounds like that iMac isn't supported by that version of OS X. Do you have an older OS X version?

Edit: Yep. It appears 10.3 requires 128 MB of RAM built in.

Edit 2: Obviously also 10.1. and 10.2 require 128 MB of RAM. Apparently 10.1 will 'unofficially' install with 64 MB though.

you need to update the iMac's firmware to the latest version (only possible under OS 9).

10.3 should install just fine then.

I would *strongly* recommend dumping whatever you can scrounge together into the RAM slots - my 400 MHz DV ran 10.4.11 (not officially supported on your machine, but installable with a little trickery) quite admirably for a machine its age.
