I'm very sorry if this is in the wrong place, and as you can tell, I know nothing about computers basically. Anyways, there is a site called beaconstreetgirls.com that my little sister and I use to draw and post pictures on. Earlier today, before I installed the update (that I had been procrastinating on installing) the drawing feature (which is in a java pop up window btw) was working fine. When I installed the update, it no longer will work. I have restarted safari, checked in the preferences to make sure java was enabled, I have tried different web browsers (including Firefox), and everything else that the website recommended, but to no avail.

Is there anything I can do that I haven't tried yet? I also know that my sister has a new mac (provided by her school) that has 10.5.8 and it is also unable to use the drawing feature.

Sounds like a Java issue.

If you believe in voodoo, you could also try downloading the 10.5.8 Combo Update and reapplying the whole update. It seemed to have fixed some weird DNS issues of another user. MAybe this will help you, too.
