Hi
I currently have a Powermac G4. And I use photoshop 7 and final cut pro 4.
my question is, will those applications work on an Intel based mac? such as the mac mini?
Are all OSX ap0plications compatible with both POwerPC and Intel macs? or are they different?

Intel Macs have the ability to run many PowerPC apps through a built-in translator known as Rosetta. However, since those are old versions of the apps in question I'm doubtful that they would work on an Intel Mac.

You're probably better off holding onto your older machine until you can also afford to upgrade the software in addition to the computer.
If you know anyone who's a school employee or attending school, you can get huge discounts on the software.

That would be unethical.

Final Cut Pro is not supported by Rosetta, so it will not run on Intel machines by default.
The first Universal Binary version of FCP was 5.1, an upgrade to the first Final Cut Studio.
I'm sure I've read somewhere about FCP 4.5 being 'persuaded' to run in Rosetta by editing .plist files (or some other hackery) but I've no idea how well it worked.
Although I never used PS7 in Rosetta, I have used CS1 & CS2. I imagine PS7 will be fine, if a bit slow.

But he's lying to Apple which ultimately is part of the reason Apple lowered the discounts students used to get (because of fraud). It hurt me when I was a student and it will hurt others.
