Hello all I have a bi of an issue, it seems that my computer (the G5 1.6ghz) might have a power supply issue, seems that when I leave the computer on for a while (2-3hrs) I come back and the supply or fan is making this loud sound and will not wake up. I hold the button down in the back and it re-boots just fine, but then after a while goes back to making the noise after 2-3hrs.

Is that the power supply or something that I am not aware of ?

please help for this is my main computer and I use it always.

Maybe it's overheating and what you're hearing is a broken fan.

Have you ran Apple Hardware Test? It can detect broken fan assemblies. Insert the original install DVD and boot holding d to start AHT.

Thanks I will try that, but would that cause the system to freeze and not respond, and then I would have to hold the button down to shut the machine down then start it again for it to work for a bit then start the sounds again, it really only happens after it has gone to sleep or what not.
