I have a Mac Pro 3ghz Quad Core. My video card (ati radeon x1900 XT) is pretty much shot. I have a 30" Apple monitor. I'm trying to sell the computer, so i don't really want to spend a fortune for a new graphics card. What are my options?

Do a Google product search for mac pro gpu and you'll find your options. You can find cards under $200 on eBay.

What's the difference between a ati radeon x1900 xt & a ati radeon x1900 xtx? Mine looks like it has an extension that was added to it to fit. Is that the only difference and can I just remove that and put it on the new one? Sorry, I'm kind of unfamiliar with video cards. Never had one go out before

Clockspeed. The XT is 625 core/800 mem, and the XTX 650 core/1000 mem.

"Extension"? I don't understand - do you mean that it has a bigger heatsink or something?

He means an additional PCB section on the back side, to make the card a full 12 inches long. That makes it a full-length card, using the front slot stabilizers to hold it more steady. Shorter cards rely on the metal header plus the slot connector.
If the new card came without an extension, then it probably doesn't need one. It's probably lighter.

A card must have a firmware that supports Macs to be usable in a Mac. It's possible to reflash some PC cards into Mac versions, but it's a tricky procedure at best
