First of all, I'd like to say to hello to everyone and thank you for checking this post out. I did a search in these forums to see if anybody matched the problems I was having, I couldn't find anything.

Before I upgraded to 10.5.8, I could always check off my internal microphone in the system preferences>sound>input. For some reason, it's only got 'line in' and the microphone won't open up. Anyone know how to fix this?

Welcome to MacNN! Were you upgrading to 10.5.8 from another version of OS X (like 10.3)? Or were you just doing a software update? If you were just doing a software update I'd try to repair disk permissions in Disk Utility. If that does nothing, go ahead and install the combo update from Apple's site. Good luck!
