Hey yall. Ill was 'gifted' a dead G4Mac Mini that i was hoping to use as a media server for my flat screen. Kind of like an apple t.v. but more just like a mac mini to flat screen.

Is there anything i can do to say take the shell and install a newer intel mother board. Guess I should figure out what is wrong with the thing 1st. I can bring it down to Melrose Mac to have it diagnosed but i was hoping you guys could give me some tips on weather to even bother doing this, upgrading the internals with new parts, restoring the G4 to where it was, etc....

Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Also, has anyone else done anything cool or neat with a dead mini? let me know please ...

Are you sure it's dead? Macs are like cats, they have nine life! Sometimes you think it's dead it might just be a very simple fix if you know what to look for. This happened to me a few times. Could you give more details? Does it not boot? Does it not power up? etc.

The cost of converting it would most likely outweigh the cost of a new mini.
