Hey guys I have a 24" iMac 2.8GHZ Core2 Duo extreme

4GB of Ram
1 TB HD.

As of the other day my computer was running abnormally slow. When I logged onto the computer error messages about a pen tablet driver was missing. The I would try to launch an application (iTunes, Numbers, Safari, any CS4 app) and it would immediately give me an error message saying iTunes quit unexpectedly. I get the spinning beach ball constantly.

I have reset the SMC.
I have ran disk permissions with nothing wrong.
I ran onyx and it stated the SMART status and Start-up disk were good.

So what are my options? Does this seem like a memory leak, HD failure or something else? I don't have AppleCare anymore so calling Apple is out for me.

Reinstall OS X you chucklehead.

Install the latest SMART Reporter (2.4.8).
Click on the icon in the menu bar, go to Preferences.
On the Hard Disks tab, right click your hard drive and select 'Check S.M.A.R.T. Attributes'.

Scroll down in the window that opens and paste the following data in code tags:

There are actually two issues here, one is with the pen tablet. Have you tried to unplug everything from the Mac besides the kbd and the mouse, then reboot your Mac? The other issue is with the applications, if all your applications quit on you, you might want to backup all your works and reinstall the OS. If that still doesn't work, it is possible that it's a hardware issue with one of the ram chip.
