So I have an iMac 17", 2Ghz, with 2GB memory, and I'm going to max my MB out, and I figured I would order the max for my iMac as well. Currently I have 2x1GB in it, and I realize the max is a 2GB and a 1GB, but what would happen if I put 2x2GB in it?

It will work. Your system and your apps will only be able to use 3GB though.

You should only buy 2x2GB if it's cheaper than 2+1GB. You won't see a performance benefit from matched DIMMs.
