I am looking for some IDE hard drives for some powermac g4's

I have found a few but they do not have the Apple logo on them

is it possible to format these for MacOS?

Yes, just use Disk Utility.

Be careful though: if you have a very old Powermac G4, it won't take drives over 120GB - but you'll find that out when you try and format them with Disk Utility.

the Powermac g4s are 40pin IDE aren't they?

Yes. And 4-pin Molex for power. Completely standard.
