Hi everyone! My first time here at the forums It seems like this is a great place and I am sure I will have a great time here.

So as you all know the new Mac mini's were released a couple of weeks ago and I was thinking of getting one, they seem to look quite nice and though a bit pricey I think I might get one because of the HDMI output capability as well. I had one question about the new Mac mini though and that was the fact of security.

I recently saw the new Mac mini and noticed that it had no Kensington Lock Slot and the fact the RAM is so easy to remove it could be prone to being stolen. My uncle also was thinking of purchasing one of these Mini's for his office but then was skeptical when he found out there was no Lock Slot.

So I was wondering would you guys recommend this purchase for a computer in offices or in public area's and would you recommend this Mac mini in general? This will be my first Mac and I thought that at a low price point this might be perfect. I wanted to know your thoughts on this, thank you for your time

Welcome to the forums! I actually hadn't noticed that the mini was lacking a Kensington security slot. That's really interesting, considering many minis see use in small businesses. I guess it really comes down to the environment that you're (or your office) is in. If it's a high traffic, low income area (not being politically correct, sorry), sure, you may think twice. On the other hand, the mini is small and would be easy to lock up in a cabinet if that's an available option. I wouldn't be afraid of putting one in some sort of enclosure as long as it has, say, 6" of ventilation on each side.

Yeah, under the desk, instead of on the desktop is a good idea. I can't imagine anyone stealing the ram, But the whole mini maybe. I don't think it is all that likely to be stolen though, most people have access to far more tempting targets.
