My Mac Pro is unwell with some reboots and white screens recently, is there a good diagnosis guide around?

If as I suspect it's a power supply can these be repaired I can see an exchange service from a Mac parts suppliers but wow they are expensive. PC power supplys are half this..anybody done any DIY repairs? or are these much more complex?

Thanks for any info..

Your best bet at this point is to run AHT using the discs that came with the machine. Make sure to do the extended test, and let us know what the results are.

Just so you know, AHT will not diagnose a power supply. Mac power supplies are relatively expensive, yes. But they are custom to each Mac and are generally very high quality units. Mac Pro PSUs are quite high powered too.

I agree with your diagnosis, boom - random reboots are a classic sign of a defective power supply. No AppleCare right?

If the PSU is cutting out, there should be entries in your system log tagged with "Reason for shutdown" and an error code.
