Hello everyone.
Here's the weirdest situation I've ever seen on any of my Macs. About three weeks ago, one afternoon I've turned off my MacMini while everything was OK. Next morning when I've turned it on, all of my .mp3 files and all of my .avi (divx) files were gone! Deleted! Not the folders in which those files were placed, only the files themselves. None of VIDEO_TS folders or .mp4 files were deleted.
I have checked my HD (both partitions) with several programs against viruses and with several others for checking and repairing hard disks but none of them reported an error. Everything seems to be just fine. But my files are disappearing every once in awhile, no matter where I put them (Documents folder, Movies folder, Music folder, secondary partition, startup partition…).
I have tried to save them by making a disk image but after a couple of days .dmg was unable to mount saying "no mountable filesystem found"??? And instead of 2 GB, get info command shows only 5 MB! Obviously, files were deleted too.
So far, if I compress those files in a .zip archive, uncompressed files are being deleted regulary but archive stays intact.
So, if someone knows what's going on, please let me know about it! I would really appreciate any good idea because I'm out of them!
