Picked up a new mini and it's been great, until I just tried the cd/dvd drive. It worked, but was very loud and making a clunking sound as it was reading and was very loud. Tried another data cd and the same thing. Then I tried a dvd and that seemed to work fine. Next tried an audio cd. It did not even recognize or show on desktop or in itunes. I logged out and logged back in and then the cd was on the desktop and worked.

So it seems to be working but maybe not as it should. Any known issues with the drives? I plan on picking up Applecare for it, but wonder if I should call about it now.

It's brand new and not working properly. Take it back for a repair or replacement.

Yeah, I just got back from the Applestore. I called and they said bring it in, we can swap the drive, it's in stock. I get down there and they say "oh, it's actually not in stock". I'm just going to replace it. It sucks because I just got done installing and uploading all my stuff.
