I have downloaded a new type font for use in MS Word for Mac and hopefully other Mac page makeup apps. Where do I save this font to so that I can use it please?

EDit:
I now see it is installed ok for "Pages" and also "NeoOffice" but not for MS Word. Is there a separate font library for MS Word? Will keep looking!

Office is frequently a law unto itself.

As a rule if you drop a new font into either /Library/Fonts/ or ~/Library/Fonts/ then most apps will pick it up. You might need to relaunch the app.

To install fonts for Office 2008 they should go in /Library/Fonts/Microsoft/. Other versions may vary.
