I recently upgraded my iMac G5 to the new iMac 27".

On thing I've noticed is the video quality (full screne) isn't nearly as crisp as the G5.

Anyone else notice this? Could it be the widescreen format?

Your G5 was a maximum of 1680x1050 if it was a 20" G5. Your new 27" is 2560x1440. The 27" is taking your tired old video (probably at 640x480) and having to blow it WAY up to show it fullscreen, and to do that, it will appear "fuzzy".

If you were to resize your video window to 1680x1050 to match the old resolution of the G5, you would probably find that the new 27" is actually a much clearer display.

When you say old video, you make it sound like something I had saved on my harddrive.

I'm talking about a DVD.

I mean, the picture is still good, but I remember when I had my G5 I was always amazed at the crystal clear picture. Now, I can notice a slight grainyness, even at DVD quality.

A DVD is 720x480. It's being massively upscaled on the 27".

That's what she said.

Jk.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense.

Try sitting further away. Or get some 720p or 1080p content to test on it.
